I love my ZMF VC, but I can see how people may not like it. I didn't really like it with my Hugo 2 either until I EQed them. I might add that when paired the ZMF VD with a Chord Hugo TT2 and M Scaler, I did not like the sound. But, I am looking to try it with an Amps&sound Forge to attempt to that sound I heard out of the EVO.

I currently pair mine with a Bottlehead Crack and a DX300 with C9 in tube mode. I can honestly say that when paired with an EVO100 Tube DAC and an EVO400 Tube AMP, it was the best sound I have ever heard come out of a headphone. It adds a kind of reverberation and euphony that are very pleasing to my ears. Tube AMPs really make the ZMF VC sound phenomenally good. People who just don't like the ZMF house sound might like this sound. If you EQ the VC to Harman with the AutoEQ headsets, it smooths out the FR curve and sounds really great like reference monitors since they are closed backed and really technically solid. Once you get everything just right, it is a glorious sound.įor me, the Universe Suede pads are the best and it delivers the best bass response and the most comfort. There are 3 things you can do to vary the sound of the VC to your own taste. It has a very unusual frequency response curve that is tuned specifically this way to get the ZMF house sound.
